The academic year 08-09 started on September 3, 2008, having being delayed by two (2) days due to the passing of tropical storm Gustav. Luckily, we were not severely affected.
Major changes were made to the academic staff as several of our teachers either went on study or vacation leave or resigned. Among those resigning was Andrew Edwards, teacher of Geography and coach of the football team. Mr. Alfred Thomas was promoted to Vice Principal, following the resignation of Mr. Michael Layne from the post he occupied since January of this year.
Throughout the summer, we made several improvements to the infrastructure of the plant. We continued to improve the library, the math room, Block H, Block K, and the Cafeteria. We were also able to build an Audio Visual Room and an Enrichment Centre for our weaker students (academically). Through the assistance of the South Florida Alumni Association we will put a Geography Laboratory in place by the end of the first term.
Our performance in the External Examination continues to be hopeful. Of the twenty-six (26) subject areas sat by our students we gained a pass rate of 70% or more in twenty (20) of these areas. Several of our students did exceptionally well by gaining distinctions in all areas.

Our teachers are encouraged to try even harder, our students are motivated to do well and our parents are expectant. I thank the Titchfield Alumni Associations for their support over the past year and must make special mention of the South Florida Chapter. It is my wish, and that of the entire school community, that this partnership continues to grow because only then our goals can be truly realized.
